Millions to Bring Affordable Housing

Indiana has awarded more than $14 million in rental housing tax credits to 18 housing developments throughout the state. The funding will boost projects including new construction, rehabilitation and historic preservation.
The effort is funded through the Internal Revenue Service Section 42 Rental Housing Tax Credit Program. Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann says the credits are among the state’s best tools to encourage the development of affordable housing. She says the 18 projects will "contribute greatly to the overall development and stabilization efforts of these communities."
The Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority says the allocations will fund more than 800 housing units.
