Military Contract Includes Rolls-Royce Production

Subscribe NowThe U.S. Department of Defense has awarded a major military contract to Connecticut-based United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX). Part of the work on the $168 million contract for the production of aircraft propulsion systems will be performed by Rolls-Royce in Indianapolis.
More than 26 percent of the work will take place at Rolls-Royce’s facilities on the west side of Indianapolis and in Plainfield. Rolls-Royce will conduct production work on its LiftSystem, which is used in the F-35B Lightning II aircraft flown by the U.S. Marine Corps and military in the United Kingdom.
The remainder of the work will be performed in Connecticut and the UK. Production is expected to be complete by May of 2019. The Naval Air Systems Command in Maryland is the contracting activity.
