Michigan City Trucking Terminal to Cease Operations
A northwest Indiana facility is set to close after being sold to a New York-based trucking company. Gypsum Express Ltd.'s acquisition of the Consolidated Transport Systems Inc. terminal in Michigan City is expected to affect 130 Indiana workers. In a letter to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, CTS says Gypsum Express expects to begin its own operations at the LaPorte County facility and could make offers to some of the displaced workers.
The affected employees work for either Consolidated Transport Systems Inc., Tandem Eastern Inc., Transport Investment Corp. or Tandem Transport Corp.

Employees are expected to lose their current jobs at the end of the month and CTS says Gypsum Express intends to open at the Michigan City facility “concurrent with our ceasing operations.”
