The funding from the Community Development Block Grant program will fund blight elimination and housing assistance efforts.
Mayor Ron Meer says, in addition to tearing down blighted buildings, the money will be used to build safe and affordable new homes and provide social services for people in need. He says the funds will bring an especially positive impact to the city’s Westside area.
The Community Development Block program aims to boost communities by supporting housing and economic opportunities.
