Hoping to foster more avenues for small business growth, the Economic Development Corp. Michigan City is eyeing an innovation center and seeking public input.
The innovation center would seek to help new startups and smaller businesses get off the ground with space for offices, labs and more.
The EDC Michigan City is seeking public feedback on what the business community would like to see in such a center. The EDC says the center could feature research space, conference rooms, event space, childcare areas and a variety of programming.
Michigan City economic leaders have been thinking about an innovation center since 2021. The EDC’s release didn’t mention any specifics on a location or budget for the center.
Planning for a small business center comes as Michigan City is expecting a big influx of residents in the next few years as a number of large housing projects come online.
