Economic Development Corp. Michigan City, Indiana has named its 2015 officers. LaPorte County Auditor Joie Winski is serving as chairman.

Michigan City, Ind. — Economic Development Corporation Michigan City, Indiana EDCMC) recently elected its 2015 officers at a regular Board of Directors meeting in January.

Joie Winski, La Porte County Auditor was elected as Chairman of the EDCMC Board and Don Babcock, NIPSCO Director of Economic Development was elected Vice Chairman. In addition, Tom Edwards, Horizon Bank President/COO was elected Secretary/Treasurer.

Outgoing Chairman Chuck Compton, Chicago South Shore & South Bend Freight RR Chief Administrative Officer, said, “It has been an honor to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors; working with such a talented and efficient team has been rewarding. The EDCMC continues to set the bar for innovation and collaboration in Northwest Indiana.”

All officers were elected into their roles unanimously by the EDCMC Board.

Incoming Chair, Joie Winski said, “The EDCMC has had a fantastic year building new community partnerships and is looking forward to an exciting 2015 with many new projects on the drawing board. The Economic Development Action Initiative completed earlier this year by Crowe Horwath LLP continues to be the guiding principles for the EDCMC progressive direction.”

Newly appointed member to the EDCMC Board is Rick Dekker, President of Dekker Vacuum Technologies.

Other Board members include: Michigan City Mayor, Ron Meer; Tim Bietry, Michigan City Councilman; Ann Dahm, Michigan City Area Chamber of Commerce President; Bill Hackney, The News Dispatch Publisher; Leif Erickson, Blue Chip Casino, Hotel & Spa Vice President & General Manager and Peggy Moore, Dage-MTI CEO.

The purpose of the EDCMC Board of Directors is to uphold the duties and mission of the organization, which strives to grow and attract new industry and business to the community as well as strengthening existing business and also guide the staff in policy decisions, strategy and evaluation and resources.
