An Indianapolis native who has covered sports in the city and state for nearly 15 years is moving on to the country’s largest media market. Michael Grady has served as the Indiana Pacers public address announcer since 2010, has taken a job as sideline reporter for the Brooklyn Nets on the YES Network in New York. He has been co-host of the Grady and Big Joe Show on 1070 The Fan, and was a sports anchor/reporter for WRTV6.

Grady is a graduate of Warren Central High School, Vincennes University and IUPUI. His career highlights include helping lead the launch of 1070 The Fan in 2007, where he served as executive producer. He was also a longtime reporter and producer of Network Indiana’s Indiana Sports Talk with Coach Bob Lovell. In a message on Facebook, Grady says he will continue to host the Grady and Big Joe Show on the station.

His message reads:

"We’ve argued, laughed together, and in some cases we even shed a tear together (Reggie Miller’s last game, a frustrating Colts or Pacers playoff loss, the time the dude said "Ray Skillman")

And we’ll continue to do all those things together.

I was raised in Indy, fell in love with the arts in Indy, fell in love with sports in Indy, and fell in love with broadcasting in Indy. I would not be here without my family, friends, teachers at Warren Central, Vincennes, and IUPUI, work colleagues, and the community.

It’s been a dream come true to work in my home town – as PA Announcer for the Pacers, anchoring sportscasts for RTV6, and on the radio with Big Joe on The Fan.

But the goal is to push the limits. See how far you can ascend, so that you can make your friends, family, and community proud….and for your own personal fulfillment.

Sometimes that means staying. Sometimes that means going. And in this case, it’s a little of both.

I will continue to host the Grady and Big Joe Show from 10am to noon with my friend Joe Staysniak. However…..I’m joining YES Network in New York, as Sideline Reporter for the Brooklyn Nets.

It is a bittersweet move for me after all the connections I’ve made in 34 years here.

I’m forever an Indiana sports fan, and will enjoy talking about each game and interviewing players, and media friends on the show during the week. And I’ll miss having the best seat in the house at the best arena in the NBA. Thank you Pacers Sports and Entertainment for welcoming me. Interacting with fans, announcing games and mumbling the names of opponents has been an unbelievable joy – and I’ll miss sitting next to the best stat crew around.

Thank you to RTV6, for taking a chance on me in 2014. It’s been a pleasure working alongside Dave Furst and Brad Brown.

I’m beyond thrilled to continue on with Emmis Communications. It has been my place of employment since I left Vincennes in 2003. I was there for the birth of the Fan in late 2007…and I’ve been proud to wish you a "Good Morning…" at 10am each day since 2011.

I will still have a home here, figuratively and literally….and will be back in the offseason, ESPECIALLY during the month of May.

So this isn’t goodbye.

This is thank you."
