Alerding Receives Inaugural IU Award
Michael Alerding was selected as one of only 12 winners nationally in the Indiana University Kelley School of Business’ inaugural Accounting Alumni Recognition Awards. He received his award in the Community Service category. Alerding, a 1971 Indiana University graduate, has worked in public accounting for 45 years. Some of his charitable work includes serving as a distinguished director emeritus for both WFYI Channel 20 and the St. Vincent Hospital Foundation. He sits on the board of the Indianapolis Humane Society and is a Trustee for Cathedral High School. Alerding was also chosen as Indiana’s Accounting Advocate of the Year in both 1989 and 2000. In 1998, Alerding co-founded Alerding CPA Group in Indianapolis where he currently serves as senior director, after stepping down as managing director in 2011. His current responsibilities include litigation support, business valuations, succession planning consulting and audit and accounting engagements. He is also an alumnus of the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series in Indianapolis. Additionally, Alerding is licensed in both Indiana and New York.
