BLUFFTON, Ind. – Metaldyne M&A Bluffton, LLC, part of Metaldyne's Drivetrain Products group, received an abatement Tuesday evening for an expansion that will add 13 new jobs and more than $8.2 million in new equipment to their Bluffton, IN facility.
Daun Spurgeon, Engineering and Maintenance Director for the Bluffton plant, attended the meeting along with Diane Johnson of Wells County Economic Development to request the $420,000, ten-year abatement from the Bluffton City Council. This request is based on an equipment investment of $8,230,000.00 for new machinery necessary as part of an expanded product line. Spurgeon noted the average wage for the new employees will be over $17.00 per hour. These 13 new jobs will add to the already 292 employees currently working at Metaldyne in Bluffton, a manufacturer of transmission components for the automotive industry. The industry has experienced steady growth in Bluffton over the past several years.
In their written request to the City Council, Metaldyne noted this expansion is part of their ongoing efforts to invest in the latest technology advancements. The investment will allow the facility to meet customer demand and stay competitive in the market place.
