Merrillville Mechanical Contractor Acquired

A Merrillville-based mechanical contractor is under new ownership. Illinois-based Reedy Industries has acquired Arctic Engineering Co. Inc., though financial details of the deal are not being disclosed.

Reedy is a commercial and industrial HVAC, plumbing and building controls services company. Chief Executive Officer Joe Kirmser says the addition of Arctic Engineering is a perfect fit.

“The combination of the Reedy platform and resources with Arctic’s people and capabilities will create significant value and growth potential for vendor partners, employees and customers,” Kirmser said in a news release. “The fact that both of our companies showed performance and got this deal done during the COVID-19 economic and health crisis is truly amazing. This fact is not lost on any of us and we plan to use it as fuel and motivation to even further grow our combined business.”

Arctic Engineering was founded in 1958. Reedy says Arctic President Bill Mitchell will remain in his current role.

“It’s great to know that our employees and customers will be able to take advantage of a larger platform and more resources without sacrificing the culture and secret sauce that has made us who we are,” said Mitchell. “Reedy has a proven history of acquiring businesses and adding value in key growth areas while preserving the customs and uniqueness of the original business.”

The acquisition is Reedy’s sixth since 2019 and thirteenth over the last three years.

See the unseen: The silent crisis of youth homelessness in central Indiana

It is a startling fact that an estimated 7,800 youth experience homelessness in our city every year. These aren't just statistics; they represent the lives of young people, each with a story, a dream, and the potential to thrive if given the opportunity. The shock factor lies in the magnitude of this issue – the magnitude of despair, isolation, and uncertainty that thousands of our city's youth grapple with daily....
