Everest College in Merrillville is closing. Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report Everest is one of a dozen campuses that for-profit education company Corinthian Colleges Inc. (Nasdaq: COCO) is shuttering. The Santa Ana, California-based company reached an agreement with the Education Department that shuts down several campuses and puts 85 U.S.-based campuses up for sale.

The campuses operate under the Everest name and are located in 11 states.

The company is under investigation by state and local authorities.
