Meijer’s Latest Indiana Location Opens

Meijer has opened a store in Evansville. The Michigan-based company has nearly three dozen locations throughout Indiana and is slated to open another supercenter in Indianapolis early next month.
Meijer also opened a location across the Ohio River from Evansville Thursday in Owensboro. Each store contains 192,000 square-feet and the retailer says they employ as many as 300 full and part-time workers.
The new Indiana locations are part of a $130 million investment in the state, which includes improvements to three stores in Indy, two in Fort Wayne and one in New Albany. In all, the retailer is pumping $400 million into nine new and several remodeled locations this year in six states, creating what the retailer says will be 3,000 jobs.
Meijer has a Fort Wayne distribution center to go with its store locations throughout the state. It operates 225 supercenters and grocery stores in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin.
