Medical Device Company Growing in Columbia City

Columbia City-based Micropulse Inc announces expansion

A Columbia City-based medical device manufacturer has announced plans to expand operations in Whitley County. Micropulse Inc. will invest $5.5 million to boost its machining and inspection capacity, creating 25 jobs.

The Whitley County Economic Development Corp. says the investment will cover new equipment that will be installed in the company’s 160,000-square-foot facility. The Whitley County Council has approved a 10-year tax abatement for the project.

"Micropulse is proud to call Whitley County home and we appreciate the years of support we have received from the local community and county government," Brian More, chief financial officer of Micropulse, said in a news release. "In today’s competitive business world and tight labor market, this abatement will allow us to make deeper investments in training and development of our workforce."

Micropulse was founded in 1988 and employs more than 300 people. The company also has an in-house incubator, OrthoVation Center, which supports startup orthopedic companies.
