INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – McNamara Florist, an Indianapolis florist founded in 1954, has acquired a 176,000 square foot industrial property, located on 7.3 acres, at 1853 Ludlow Avenue, in Indianapolis. The site of the florist’s new corporate headquarters will undergo extensive, environmentally-friendly renovations, and occupancy is expected in the first half of 2016. The company headquarters currently occupies 58,000 square feet of leased space in Fishers, Ind. McNamara currently employs 120 people and the company will be relocating 70 of those positions to this facility.
McNamara President and CEO Toomie Farris, AAF, AIFD, has been with the company since 1980. He acquired the company in 2007 from Sun Capital.
“We are excited and proud to move back into the heart of Indianapolis, as well as contribute to the revitalization of the near eastside,” Farris said. “The City of Indianapolis has been supportive in our efforts to bring this project to fruition. The building has been vacant for several years so renovation and occupancy will bring stability and stimulus to the area.”
DTZ Senior Managing Director Bill French and Associate Vice President Grant Lindley represented McNamara in the property transaction. Financing for the acquisition and construction was provided by First Internet Bank and an SBA 504 loan was coordinated by Premier Capital Corporation. April Hensley of Leech Hensley Architects will be the principal architect and Kort Builders will serve as the general contractor. McNamara also received a LISC fa?ade improvement grant, which will be used to improve the exterior appearance of the building.

The new Indianapolis location offers a more central point of distribution with easy interstate access and will be ideal for McNamara’s daily city-wide delivery service and support to local event venues.
