Martin University has named John Girton Jr. director of marketing and communications. He previously served as director of creative services for Tennessee State University. Girton is also president and chief executive officer for Girt Enterprises LLC. He has also served as lead pastor at CMBCIndy for five the past years. 

Girton has also instructed students in various areas of media, marketing and communications at ITT Technical Institute and The First Amendment Center’s Freedom Forum on the campus of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

In addition, he has been a media producer and instructional designer for organizations such as Hospital Corporation of America, Marion County Public Health Department, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, and the University of Indianapolis. Girton is Founder of the UniteForChange.org movement.  

He holds a BS degree in communications from Ball State University and a MA in urban studies from Martin University. He has had advanced studies at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, Trevecca Nazarene University and Tennessee State University.
