The president and chief executive officer of the Marshall County Economic Development Corp. has resigned. Jerry Chavez has served in the role since 2014, though the organization’s board of directors did not provide a reason for his departure.

During his tenure, Chavez helped lead numerous economic development efforts, including securing $161 million in industrial capital investment in 2019. The county also received the Stellar Communities designation from the state late last year.

“Marshall County Economic Development successes are recognized statewide as a result of a highly effective team approach representing all levels of government coupled with the execution of specific project-based strategies,” said Jim Condon, chair of the MCEDC Board. “I want to say thanks to Jerry for his tireless work, vision and assembly of a Marshall County team focused on accomplishment. As of today, MCEDC has recorded and anticipates over $120 MM in capital investment by industry with three months remaining in year 2020.”

The board says it is developing a two-part plan to not only find a successor for Chavez, but also ensure projects currently being managed by the MCEDC will continue on a successful path.
