Marsh to Sell Off Remaining Assets
Liquidation sales will continue until the merchandise is sold

Subscribe NowIndianapolis-based Marsh Supermarkets LLC has announced plans to sell its remaining intellectual property assets and alcohol beverage permits. The company, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in May, says it will accept bids through mid-October.
The intellectual property assets include registered trademarks and/or designs, including Marsh, Marsh Hometown Market, O’Malia’s, Main Street Market, and Experts in Fresh, among others. The alcohol permits, both grocery and drugstore-based, are specific to various Indiana and Ohio counties and Marsh says they require state and local approval in order to be transferred.
"Marsh Supermarkets has some great brands and trademarks that have been well known throughout Indiana and Ohio," said Ben Habegger, vice president of legal affairs. "The alcohol beverage permits include grocery and/or drug store permits in approximately 25 Indiana and Ohio counties. We have had numerous parties contact us about these different assets and we are now ready to dispose of them."
All bids for the assets must be submitted by October 16.
Marsh in June announced the sale of many of its stores to Ohio-based Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) subsidiary Topvalco Inc., and Generative Growth II LLC for a combined $24 million. All Marsh stores were eventually closed by mid-July.
Late last month, Generative Growth announced the majority of the stores it purchased would operate under the Needler’s Fresh Market brand. Topvalco detailed plans for the stores it purchased in July.
