A Canadian company that has located its U.S. headquarters in Carmel is hosting grand opening events for its new facilities this week. Canature WaterGroup, which manufactures and distributes water treatment products, says it employs 15 in Hamilton County.

Most of the new workers are from the area, with a handful transferring from other company operations.

The city says two of the company’s business lines will operate from the new facility: Plumbing Wholesale Channel and Independent Water Dealer Channel. In addition to Carmel, the company has other locations in Minnesota, Arizona and three in Canada.

Chief Operating Officer Toby Hughes says "we analyzed the market and our customer base to determine the best single location in North America and we chose Carmel and central Indiana as the optimum location. Carmel had the right building options to fit into our future plans of adding water softener tank and brine tank manufacturing."

Carmel has received a recent string of good news on the economic development front, including Allied Solutions LLC planning to add more than 600 jobs over the next decade as part of a new $33 million headquarters, Midcontinent Independent System Operator Inc. looking to pump $30 million into expanding its headquarters, adding more than 80 jobs, and Maryland-based Precision Products Group moving its HQ to Carmel.

City and company officials held a Grand Opening Tuesday for the Plumbing Wholesale Channel and will host another Thursday for the Independent Water Dealer Channel.
