The city of Kokomo will host an economic development announcement Tuesday. The Office of Mayor Greg Goodnight says a manufacturer will bring jobs to the city and reopen a vacant factory.

Officials say the plans also call for new equipment and renovations to the facility.

The announcement is set for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Howard County city.

The city says the news "represents a trend for the return of manufacturing jobs to Kokomo."

At the end of last year, Chrysler Group LLC announced a $266 million investment into boosting production at its transmission plants in Kokomo. Last month, Kokomo-based auto component manufacturer METCO Inc. announced its acquisition of Michigan auto parts supplier Standard Starter Drive Co. METCO is relocating production and distribution to Kokomo and investing $500,000 to expand.
