GoodSports Enterprises Global wants to build the development at a site originally planned to house a Cabela's Inc. (NYSE: CAB) store and water park. Our partners at WTHR-TV in Indianapolis report the complex could open next year and is expected to create more than 100 permanent jobs. A spokeswoman with the City of Greenwood confirms the sports facility would have room for bleacher seating for 600, 12 volleyball courts and six basketball courts. The hotel would be designed for sports travelers and include access to professional trainers and exercise facilities.
The center would be called The GoodSports Village. The Florida company is looking to build several complexes throughout the country. GoodSports lists current locations in Ohio, Missouri and Kansas.
WTHR reports the company expects the work to create 300 construction jobs.
