Major Media Deal Involving Indiana Stations Wraps Up

Georgia-based Gray Television Inc. (NYSE: GTN) has completed the acquisition of television stations from Schurz Communications Inc. in Mishawaka. The $415 million deal included the purchase and subsequent sell-off of a group of radio stations, nine of which are in the Lafayette and South Bend markets.
Gray owns WNDU-TV in South Bend and as part of the transaction, couldn’t acquire WSBT-TV in Mishawaka from Schurz.
The deal includes the sale of five radio stations from South Dakota to an in-state group, the sale of four radio stations in South Bend to Mid-West Family Broadcasting group and the sale of five Lafayette radio stations to Florida-based Neuhoff Communication. The Indiana stations dropped by Gray are:
- WNSN 101.5FM in South Bend
- WSBT 960AM/96.1FM in South Bend
- WHFB 99.9FM in South Bend
- WZOC 94.3FM in South Bend
- WKHY 93.5FM in Lafayette
- WKOA 105.3FM in Lafayette
- WASK 98.7FM in Lafayette
- WXXB 102.9Fm in Lafayette
- WASK 1450AM in Lafayette
WSBT-TV, which was the flagship of Schurz Communications’ television stations, is owned and operated independently from Gray and WNDU-TV as the company looks for a new owner.
