Majestic CEO Remains Committed to Gary
A potential land-based casino in Gary could impact whether further improvements will be made to a couple of gaming boats in the area. Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report Majestic Holdco Chief Executive Officer Peter Liguori questions if it is worth pumping additional money into the company's current properties if eventually “you will be selling them for scrap.” He made the comments this week to members of the Gary Chamber of Commerce. He adds updated slot machines and some “freshening up” will take place at the riverboats in Buffington Harbor, even with the prospect of a new casino.
Plans to allow the company to use one of its licenses for a land-based casino in Gary have not taken off at the Statehouse.
But supporters plant to keep trying as part of an overall economic development initiative for the city.
Liguori says the company remains committed to the area and is launching a Gary First initiative designed to consider city residents first for jobs when deciding among candidates with equal qualifications.
