Lumina to Expand Talent Hub Oversight

Lumina to Expand Talent Hub Oversight

Indianapolis-based Lumina Foundation has selected CivicLab to oversee its national talent hub and community network. CivicLab is a program of the Community Education Coalition of Columbus.

The talent hub network is made up of 26 community hubs across the U.S. that cultivate talent among students, especially minority and those from low-income families.

Lumina’s community network includes nearly 100 cross-sector community and regional partnerships focused on fostering equity and improving education outcomes.

As it assumes responsibility for the two programs, CivicLab will be responsible for expanding the networks and help communities focus on educational attainment, racial equity, and economic mobility.

Dakota Pawlicki will lead the network activities at CivicLab. He formerly led the talent hub initiative at Lumina.

“Local and regional cross-sector partnerships have proven to be an effective vehicle for equity-focused systems change,” said Pawlicki.  “Lumina has incubated this work since 2012, and the network has grown to a level of maturity that warrants this transition, allowing CivicLab to more comprehensively serve the partnerships.”

The CivicLab team says it wants to identify other forms of help it can provide to members of the talent hubs and community networks.
