Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis plans to add seven races next year to its oval track slate. The expansion bucks moves by multiple racing venues throughout the state to either close or reduce schedules because of budgetary challenges. December 10, 2014

News Release

BROWNSBURG, Ind. – Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis today announced plans to expand its schedule on the 0.686-mile oval in 2015 with the introduction of a new seven-race stock car series that will crown year-end track champions in the Late Model Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Compact divisions. All the races will be sanctioned by Champion Racing Association (CRA) and Vore's Compact Touring Series (VCTS).

“Race fans and drivers enjoy the thrilling and competitive nature of our short track races,” said Randy Simpson, general manager of Lucas Oil Raceway. “As a multipurpose facility, we pride ourselves on hosting a wide variety of races on a regular basis. With the announcement of our new oval series, we're counting down the days until the green flag waves on what will be an exciting 2015 season.”

The season opens with the traditional Cabin Fever Championship on Sunday, March 29. From there, the series will race four Friday night races on April 24, May 8, July 3 and July 31. The series will then culminate with two Sunday afternoon races, including the Fall Brawl on September 27 and Track Championship Sunday on October 18.

“We are excited about the Lucas Oil Raceway schedule and the fact that race fans will get to see more races on the oval,” said R.J. Scott, president of CRA. “For the racers, claiming a track championship at one of short track racing's best facilities will be a very special part of their racing resume. This is an exciting time for racing in the Midwest.”

The stakes are high because each race, with the exception for April 24 and October 18, will count towards separate CRA, VCTS, and Lucas Oil Raceway points championships. Late Model Sportsman and Street Stocks champions and top finishers will be honored at the CRA Awards Banquet while the Compact champion and top finishers will be honored at the VCTS Awards Banquet. Stay tuned as more information becomes available.
