The provider says expanding into southern Indiana will help secure its long-term future as an independent provider of specialty orthopaedic care.
The satellite location will open in January in the Northgate Medical Center in New Albany. LOC will also be utilizing a surgical facility at the Physicians Medical Center in New Albany, located just southwest of the Indiana University Southeast campus.
The provider says this is the first true expansion since the practice was founded in 1974. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held in early February.
LOC says government regulations, increased costs and declining reimbursements have led to many independent practices to sell to larger hospital corporations. The provider adds remaining independent allows for the ability to maintain control in a changing healthcare environment, which allows for the delivery of better and more personal individual care.
