Chris Proffitt, who spent more than 25 years in local television news in Indianapolis, is the new communications director for Hill’s office.
Proffitt spent 21 years with WTHR-TV and five years at WRTV-TV in Indy. His career earned him nine Emmy Awards and a National Edward R. Murrow Award.
"I am pleased to welcome Chris to our staff," said Hill. "His experience and expertise will prove invaluable in helping us serve our constituents. As leader of our communications team, he will ensure that we keep Hoosiers properly informed of our important work on behalf of the State of Indiana."
Proffitt’s appointment comes as Hill faces allegations of sexual improprieties against a state representative and several legislative staff members. Hill has denied the allegations multiple times. Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry announced Tuesday a special prosecutor will be appointed to investigate the claims.
