The head of media relations and internal communications at Indiana University has accepted a newly-created position with another school. IU Associate Vice President of Public Affairs and Government Relations Mark Land has been named vice president of university relations at Clemson University.
Land came to IU in 2011 and previously held positions including business editor for the Indianapolis Star and executive director of corporate communications at Columbus-based Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI). Clemson says Land has spent more than 30 years in journalism, industry and higher education fields.
In a news release from Clemson, he said "while I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Indiana University, I am humbled to be selected as Clemson University’s first vice president of university relations, and thrilled to have the opportunity to further strengthen the university’s reputation, raise its visibility among our key audiences, and share the story of the impact Clemson is making through its teaching, research and extension services."
Land hold a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism degree from Indiana University and an MBA from Columbia University.
