Long John Silver’s Acquires Indiana Restaurants

Louisville-based Long John Silver’s has acquired more than 70 restaurants, most of which are located in Indiana, from Jasper-based ServUS. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, however the company says no jobs will be affected.
ServUS is owned by franchisee Bob Ruckriegel, who opened the third Long John Silver’s restaurant in the country in 1969. Some of the restaurants included in the acquisition are also located in western Kentucky and southwestern Michigan.
"This is an excellent opportunity to continue our brand revitalization," said Brian Unger, chief operating officer of Long John Silver’s. "We’re thrilled to add an extensive line-up of well-performing restaurants to our company-owned portfolio and to continue the legacy that Bob has left behind."
The acquisition is part of an effort Long John Silver’s began in 2015 to purchase a number of restaurants in its system, which now totals 200. The company is currently renovating existing restaurants and says those whose renovations are complete have reported double-digit growth.
