General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) executives in Fort Wayne are ratcheting up efforts to secure an investment of up to $1 billion. Our partners at WPTA 21Alive report representatives from the Allen County facility are set to go before the county council Thursday in hopes of lining up tax breaks to boost a bid for a facility expansion. An expansion may not create jobs, but would help the company keep 4,000 existing ones and serve as an investment in the longevity of the operation.

Fort Wayne executives are expected to make a pitch to Detroit at the beginning of next year.

WPTA 21Alive reports a final decision from GM could come late next year.
