Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly and Co. (NYSE: LLY) has appointed Philip Johnson senior vice president of finance and treasurer. Johnson, who currently serves as vice president for investor relations, will begin his new role in January.
Lilly says Johnson will continue to lead the company’s investor relations efforts once his new role takes effect. He will report to Josh Smiley, who Lilly announced in September is being promoted to chief financial officer in January as well.
"Phil has been a trusted partner for our shareholders, effectively communicating the company’s results and expectations, while ensuring management’s actions are informed by shareholder input," Smiley said in a news release. "With his external focus and experience in the capital markets, Phil is an ideal candidate to assume this important position and to help guide Lilly’s financial strategy."
Johnson has worked for Lilly for 22 years and has been in his current role since 2007.
