Life Sciences Company Coming to River Ridge Knipper currently employs 600 associates in five facilities and plans to open the new center in May.

New Jersey-based J. Knipper and Company Inc. says it will establish operations in Charlestown and create up to 56 jobs by 2021. The company, which re-packages and distributes medical device and drug samples, plans to invest more than $20 million in a warehouse and distribution center at River Ridge Commerce Center.

The 300,000 square-foot facility will manage prescription, controlled substance and cold chain products. The company says the location will allow it to reach more than three-quarters of the U.S. population with two-day ground service.

Chief Executive Officer Jim Knipper says the expansion comes on the heels of year-after-year growth and several acquisitions.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered J. Knipper and Co. more than $400,000 in conditional tax credits and training grants based on the job creation plans. One Southern Indiana is working on additional incentives for the company through the River Ridge Commerce Center’s Urban Enterprise Zone.

The announcement marks the latest win for the River Ridge Commerce Center in southeast Indiana. The state says the site supports more than 10,000 jobs and generates an estimated economic impact of $1.3 billion. Crews broke ground earlier this month on a $30 million heavy haul corridor connecting River Ridge to the Port of Indiana-Jeffersonville.
