Republicans, who tabbed transportation as their top priority, are lauding outcomes of the short session. Democrats took a less positive view of the results, saying the state is still missing the mark when it comes to civil rights laws. House Speaker Brian Bosma (R-88) issued a statement saying "significant progress was made on big issues facing Indiana."
House Minority Leader Scott Pelath (D-9) called the two-year transportation bills "a measurable success," but said the legislature has a long way to go.

Senate Minority Leader Tim Lanane (D-25) says the 2016 General Assembly was "defined by missed opportunities."
