Terry Anker, who has served in the role since 2011, says he will step down in March.
The organization, which is an affiliate of the Central Indiana Community Foundation, touted Anker’s successes during his tenure as president. Under his leadership, Legacy Fund has raised more than $28 million, awarded nearly 3,000 grants and increased its total assets by $15 million.
"Terry has made a significant impact on our community while serving as president of the Legacy Fund," said Mike Daugherty, Legacy Fund board chair. "He is dedicated to the success of Hamilton County, and we look forward to continuing to work with him in pursuit of this goal. Terry has graciously agreed to stay on through March in order to provide our board of directors sufficient time to thoughtfully select Legacy Fund’s next president. We will miss Terry along with his energy, enthusiasm and innovative leadership."
Anker also helped establish the Youth Assistance Program in every school corporation in Hamilton County. The program targets at-risk youth and aims to prevent them from "making mistakes that lead to long-term involvement in the county’s legal system."
Legacy Fund says over the past 25 years, it has awarded nearly $55 million in grants and nearly $5 million in scholarships to area students.
