Hendricks County Bank and Trust Co. has announced Chief Executive Officer Stephen Denhart will be retiring during the first half of 2022, but he will remain as chairman. He’ll be succeeded by David McKee as CEO. The bank says Jerry Orem will continue as president.

Denhart has worked in banking for 50 years.

“On my first day I took a stack of checks and ran adding machine tape on them and then that stack of checks was transported by car to the Federal Reserve Bank for clearing,” reflected Denhart.

The veteran banker served as a teller, a bookkeeper and climbed into management.

During his time at the helm, HCBT expanded into two new markets including Danville and Avon. There are now five branches in the county.
