An auto parts manufacturer in Tipton is delaying the start of previously-announced layoffs. Steel Parts Manufacturing Inc. has notified the state that a WARN notice issued in June is being postponed and extended for certainly hourly employees until early September.

In the original notice, Steel Parts Manufacturing said 107 workers would be affected by the layoff. The company says the delay was caused by additional demand for certain parts for Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F), which is transitioning to other suppliers.
