Our partners at WPTA-TV report while there has been no confirmation on what the project is, documents filed with the city suggest it will be an “e-commerce storage and fulfillment center (for) a large internet distributor.”
Known as “Project Mastodon,” the facility would include nearly 2.9 million total square feet of space across three floors. The documents say the building would be “owned, occupied, and operated by a single tenant.”
The facility would be located on a 150-acre site near the Sweetwater headquarters in Fort Wayne, according to WPTA. Mayor Tom Henry mentioned the project during his State of the City address last month, but provided no details other than calling it “substantial.”
The station says this afternoon’s meeting will cover requests for zoning variances for the project.
Inside INdiana Business will provide more details on the project as they become available.
