Greenwood-based Midwest Language Services LLC has announced plans to relocate its headquarters to Indianapolis. The company says it will move into the Switchboard coworking space in Fountain Square and add more than a dozen jobs over the next year.

The language services provider is not disclosing the financial details of the move. President Tanya Hoover tells Inside INdiana Business the decision to relocate was based on a number of factors, including proximity to a larger potential client base, its central location, and the environment at Switchboard.

Midwest Language Services provides English language training, as well as translation and interpretation services. Hoover says most of the company’s work is done remotely, which makes the location at Fountain Square ideal. She says the coworking model has the potential to bring clients and their network to the company.

"We had our business in Greenwood for the first thirteen years and it was conveniently located for our instructors and our students," Hoover said. "While it’s true that there has been more foreign investment in south central Indiana, from a strategic standpoint, the odds are in our favor that people will do an Internet search of ‘translation services Indianapolis’ or ‘interpreting services Indianapolis’ before thinking of those services being in Greenwood, despite those having been available in Greenwood for over a decade."

Hoover says the relocation is expected to be complete in mid-March.
