Langellier: Indy ‘Well-Positioned’ For Amazon

TechPoint Chief Executive Officer Mike Langellier says while Indianapolis is well-positioned to bid for Amazon.com Inc.’s (Nasdaq: AMZN) second headquarters, it will take "a giant, collective, creative, big thinking effort" to pull it off. Amazon says "HQ2" would be a $5 billion project creating 50,000 jobs over 15 years. "This is a once in a generation opportunity… akin to a Super Bowl bid and bigger in a lot of respects," said Langellier.

In an interview on Inside INdiana Business Television, Langellier talked about two Amazon requirements: talent and mass transit.

Competition for the mega project will be fierce, with dozens of regions in the U.S. and Canada expected to bid, offering billions in incentives.

Last week, Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett and Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness announced plans for a "coordinated, unified regional effort" to attract the Amazon headquarters. A team of tech, business and community leaders are preparing a proposal that needs to be submitted by October 19.
