A longtime Indiana radio ownership group with several stations throughout the state is exiting the Lafayette market. Artistic Media Partners Inc. has agreed to sell four stations to Indiana-based Lafayette TV LLC, which has also launched a low-power television station this week in Tippecanoe County featuring national network programming.
The radio transaction is valued at $2.3 million and involves WCYM-FM in Attica, WBPE-FM in Brookston and WAZY-FM and WSHY-AM in Lafayette. In a statement, Artistic Media owner Art Angotti II said "after 23 years of visiting and living in the Lafayette market, it’s not easy letting our Lafayette stations go, but having met with the owners of Lafayette TV LLC, I am confident that they will continue our commitment to broadcast excellence and the support of the staff, the community, and continue the partnership with Purdue University!." He added the sale to Lafayette TV LLC is "good for our clients, employees, and the community. This is a great strategy for Lafayette TV, LLC with huge potential."
Indiana RadioWatch, a state-focused industry publication, reports the TV station, which airs on channel 18 in the Lafayette market, started on air Tuesday. It runs FOX programming on WPBI-LD and NBC programming on a digital subchannel.
