The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) has cut the ribbon on its latest Indiana investment. The $17.4 million expansion and remodeling of the St. Joe Center Road location in Fort Wayne includes the grocer’s new online shopping service and larger meat and seafood counters.
The Fort Wayne market is part of Kroger’s Central Division, which includes 137 stores in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri and Ohio under the Kroger, Owen’s and Pay Less brands.
In March, Kroger detailed $26 million plans for a 100,000 square-foot location near Dupont and Tonkel roads. The new store is expected to create some 300 jobs.
