Kroger Names Ruler Foods President

A division of Cincinnati-based The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) has a new president. The company has appointed Liz Ferneding to lead Ruler Foods, based in Seymour, following the May retirement of former president Paul Bowen.
Ferneding most recently served as director of corporate buying at Illinois-based ALDI Inc.
"Liz’s extensive grocery retail experience in procurement, marketing, advertising, management and operations will be an asset to our Ruler associates, customers and community," said Rodney McMullen, chief executive officer of Kroger. "We have a lot of respect for the Ruler format and the customer it serves. Liz’s talent and insights will help us sharpen our value-centric, small-format store."
Ruler Foods currently has 48 stores in operation in Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio and Tennessee. Kroger says two more Ruler stores are set to open later this year.
