The Kroger Co. has named Eric Halvorson public affairs manager and media spokesman for the company’s central division. He left WISH-TV last year after 33 years. Halvorson succeeds John Elliott, who will become the chief executive officer of Gleaners Food Bank in Indianapolis later this year. Halvorson had been the lead news anchor at the station for years. In the new role, he will be in charge of media and government relations, as well as charitable activities. In addition to local news, Halvorson has served as an adjunct professor at University of Indianapolis. He is currently producing a documentary for WFYI-TV in Indianapolis related to the state’s bicentennial. He holds a master’s in history and political science, a bachelor of arts in political science and a bachelor of science in radio and television from Butler University.
