The president of the Kosciusko County Economic Development Corp. is retiring. George Robertson, who became the organization’s first full-time leader in 2010, will step down at the end of the year.

Jim Tinkey, chairman of the KEDCO Board of Directors, says during his tenure, Robertson built a board of about 30 members and helped grow a network of volunteers involved with economic development throughout the county.

"George is leaving behind a great legacy with the community and the county,” said Tinkey. “He brought with him deep experience in economic development and has worked very diligently for us for almost 10 years to raise the level of engagement and activity across all of our communities."

The board has begun a search for Robertson’s successor with the goal of selecting someone "relatively soon."

"Whomever we have a chance to select, we want to make sure that candidate has the same passion as George for economic development," said Tinkey. "We’ll have one economic development professional working alongside another to learn the community, if they’re new to the area, and to learn who are key partners are in the county, the region and throughout Indiana."
