Members of the Kokomo Common Council have approved plans to issue $11 million in bonds for a downtown baseball stadium. The Kokomo Tribune reports the ballpark has an estimated price tag of $9 million and bonds also include the cost of flood mitigation in the area. The bonding approval keeps the project on track for a planned opening in April.

Four high schools in Howard County plan to use the new facility, which will have about 4,000 seats.

It will be the first new baseball stadium in Kokomo since 1955. Highland Park Stadium was the hone for the Kokomo Dodgers, who were an minor league team in the Brooklyn Dodgers organization.Source: Kokomo Tribune
