One of the Indiana Kmart stores caught in the latest round of closures by parent Sears Holding Corp. (Nasdaq: SHLD) has provided more details. In a notice to the state, Kmart Corp. says 113 employees will be out of work when the store closes its doors for good.
The company says layoffs are expected to begin December 31 and could take place over a two-week period. The store is located at 430 West Ridge Road in the Lake County town.
Sears Holding Corp. filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this month and announced a total of 142 Sears and Kmart stores would close as a result. In addition to the Griffith store, the Indiana locations affected include:
- 6780 W Washington Street, Indianapolis (Kmart)
- 723 3rd Avenue, Jasper (Kmart)
- 1251 US Highway 31 N, Greenwood (Sears)
- 3401 S US Highway 41, Terre Haute (Sears)
Specific details on the dates of the additional closures and the number of employees affected have not yet been released.
