Subscribe NowMethodist Hospital in Kentucky is seeking public input regarding a possible affiliation with Evansville-based Deaconess Health System. The hospital says while no decisions have been made, the Methodist Board of Directors would maintain control of the hospital if the affiliation is approved.
Our partners at WEHT-TV in Evansville report Methodist is asking the public to either submit emails with their input or send messages through the hospital’s Facebook page. The submissions are being accepted through June 8.
The Methodist board plans to review and discuss all comments before making a final vote on an affiliation with Deaconess. The hospital further detailed the situation in a post on Facebook last week:
Discussions about an affiliation between Methodist Hospital and Deaconess Health System have been ongoing for more than three years. During that time, both parties have participated in extensive due diligence to ensure that the relationship would benefit the communities that Methodist serves.
While no final decisions have been made, the plans for the potential affiliation between Methodist and Deaconess would keep the control of the hospital with the Methodist Board of Directors. The majority of this board would be representatives of Methodist Hospital.
The affiliation, if approved, will increase the services provided by Methodist and local physicians to the people of Henderson and western Kentucky. Both Methodist and Deaconess are local hospitals, whose leaders and physicians understand and support local governance, as well as locally-provided healthcare.
In addition, the affiliation will create financial stability for Methodist Hospital, to ensure that the hospital will not only continue to provide quality care, but will grow in services for Henderson and our surrounding counties for years to come.
Methodist Hospital did not provide a timeline for a vote on the affiliation.
