The Kennedy Bridge, which is southeast Indiana’s part of the Downtown Crossing project, has reopened to southbound traffic.
The bridge currently carries five lanes of traffic with the far right lane remaining closed. Direct access from I-65 South to I-64 East and I-71 North has been restored. Officials say the ramp from I-65 South to I-64 West is expected to reopen by early November.
When the Downtown Crossing portion is complete, the Kennedy Bridge will carry six lanes of I-65 South traffic and the new, adjacent Abraham Lincoln Bridge will carry six lanes of I-65 North traffic. The Downtown Crossing is expected to be complete in December.
