Officials have marked the opening of Elkhart-based Kem Krest Corp.’s third facility. The logistics and supply chain management provider broke ground in September on the $6.2 million, 200,000 square-foot distribution center.

The company’s clients include automotive, agricultural, industrial and power sports businesses in Elkhart County. The new facility is next to Kem Krest’s current headquarters and it includes more than two dozen truck docks, as well as conference, collaboration and event space.

Kem Krest President David Weaver says "the new space will enable us to continue to grow in the industry and in our community. It also provides us the needed space to gather all our local staff in one location for company meetings and events."

The company says the newly-operational warehouse will serve a "large global automotive manufacturer" and it will be adding associates as part of its investment in the area. Last month, it launched a part-time hiring initiative.
