F.C. Tucker Co. says pended home sales in central Indiana increased 6.9 percent in July. More than 2,900 homes were sold in the 15-county region, up from just over 2,700 during the same month last year.

Of the counties tracked by F.C. Tucker, eight saw an increase in home sales last month with Hendricks and Morgan counties seeing the largest jumps at 21 and 16.9 percent, respectively. The company says the average year-to-date home price for the region increased to $196,683, a 5.5 percent jump over the same month in 2016.

"Indiana real estate continues to be an incredible value," said Jim Litten, chief executive officer of F.C. Tucker Co. "Regardless of your price point, a good selection of homes, including new construction, offers homebuyers many options."

F.C. Tucker says the number of active listings dropped 17.8 percent in July to 8,631. None of the 15 counties saw an increase in active listings. Putnam and Marion counties saw the biggest drops in active listings at 30.7 and 23.8 percent, respectively.
