Jump IN For Healthy Kids Announces Change in Leadership

Subscribe NowJump IN for Healthy Kids has named Julie Burns (pictured) chief executive officer, effective July 1. She succeeds Ron Gifford, who has led the initiative since its launch in January 2014. Gifford will remain with Jump IN in a part-time role as a senior advisor for strategic initiatives and as a member of its Leadership Council. Gifford will have continuing oversight responsibilities for Jump IN’s initiatives in its Greater Lawrence/Far Eastside pilot project and related to its food access work. Burns, has served as head of program operations for the organization since 2014. She has a strong background in operations, having worked extensively with health care companies and employer wellness programs, including growing a health care startup company into a mature organization.
In addition, Mark Nagy, vice president of global patient outcomes & real world evidence at Eli Lilly and Co., will become co-chair of Jump IN’s Leadership Council and Executive Committee. Nagy succeeds Jack Phillips, CEO of Roche Diagnostics, who has served as co-chair since its founding along with Dr. Virginia Caine, director of the Marion County Public Health Department. Caine will continue as co-chair of the effort.
Jump IN for Healthy Kids is a community-wide initiative dedicated to improving the health of children by reducing the prevalence of child obesity. The initiative was created in 2014 by the CEOs of Indianapolis’ largest health care systems, businesses and nonprofit organizations to help address central Indiana’s lagging health status. Jump IN works with schools, child care centers, employers and community organizations to create healthy environments where families have real opportunities to access healthy, affordable food and safe places to play and be active.
